Developing a Greener Tomorrow: An Earth Day Celebration in Harlem
April 22, 2005
Held at Synod House in Harlem’s own Cathedral of St. John the Divine, WE ACT’s 2005 Earth Day Celebration and annual fundraising event honored advocates for environmental health and sustainable development with the WE ACT for Environmental Justice Award. WE ACT gives this award to individuals and organizations that have made substantial inroads to preserve the natural and built environment and improve environmental health in communities of color.
After enjoying a sumptuous breakfast and music by the LonGar Ebony Ensemble, guests were welcomed by NewsChannel 4’s Monica Morales, who served as Emcee for the event. The event came to a close with remarks from WE ACT’s co-founder and Executive Director Peggy Shepard.
