Jei Fong

Jei Fong is the Outreach and Public Education Coordinator for the Beyond Ground Zero Network (BGZ), and an organizer for Chinese Staff & Workers' Association (CSWA).  For four years, she has been organizing with CSWA in the Chinese community and in working class communities of New York City to address systemic problems in the workplace and beyond.  During this time, BGZ has organized over 50,000 people to protest the government's denial of the post-9/11 toxic air, and to demand government accountability for all those who were adversely affected as a result of their neglegence.  Drawing from the perspective that the environment should include the people who live in it, CSWA and other BGZ member organizations see the importance of also addressing the economic problems from 9/11 and fight against the displacement of low-income families and businesses from the Lower East Side and Chinatown.
