Jennifer Miller

Jennifer Miller, PhD (cand), Founder and Executive Director of Bioethics International

Jennifer Miller is a leading expert in emergency preparedness, resource allocation, and person-centered bioethics. A physicist by training, Miller founded Bioethics International (BEI) in 2005. Throughout her career she has served as an advisor on a wide range of bioethics issues to the American Medical Association, the National Disaster Life Support Foundation, the Institute for Marriage and Family Canada, the International Association of Obstetricians in Italy, US Environmental Protection Agency scientists, consulting firms, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, policy writers, the private sector and the media.

In 2007, Miller was appointed a special consultant to the United Nations as the representative for Mexican NGO Mujer para la Mujer. She has also separately moderated, executed, and sponsored United Nations affiliated conferences on critical current and emerging ethical concerns affecting the world’s healthcare. Miller has served as an expert and panelist for the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) world congress in Washington, DC. and the Appignani Center for Bioethics at the United Nations.

A powerful and effective speaker, Miller has lectured around the world at top universities, health care institutions, and NGOs including Fordham University, the University of Ottawa, St. Francis College, St. Vincent's Medical Center, St. Vincent's Health System, and Hamot Hospital. Her expertise and interviews on bioethics have been featured in both the domestic and foreign press. 

Today, thanks to hospitals and pharmaceutical companies committed to providing superior care and maintaining excellent ethics along with her dedicated supporters who champion human dignity, Miller’s work has affected the practices of thousands of doctors and nurses directly improving the quality of patient care for an estimated 1 million patients.  As the editor of Ethics Illustrated and an author for the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) online publication Blogging Biotech, her expertise reaches an audience of more than one thousand biotechnology companies and thousands of professionals across the globe.

Miller received a B.S. in Physics from Fordham University in New York, a Master’s Degree in Bioethics, and is a candidate for a Doctorate in Bioethics from Regina Apostolorum in Italy. She is proficient in the English, Spanish and Italian languages.
