During that time and since, she has been working in the South Bronx on issues of environmental health and justice for the last 18 years. She was a founder of the South Bronx Clean Air Coalition, which waged a successful and hard-fought battle to close a regional medical waste incinerator in the Mott Haven-Port Morris neighborhood and to put the issue of South Bronx environmental racism on the map. She was a Kellogg Foundation Bronx Urban Health Fellow from 1996-1998.
She coordinates environmental health programs at For A Better Bronx. She has authored several publications and health and the environment.
