Peggy Shepard, executive director and co-founder of West Harlem Environmental Action (WE ACT for Environmental Justice), will be a featured speaker at Colorado State University.
On November 2nd, she will share WE ACT's story as one of the first environmental justice groups in the State of New York, and the ongoing battle for environmental and climate justice nationwide.
Under Peggy's leadership over the past year, WE ACT has worked with Northern Manhattan residents to create a plan for climate change, led the Environmental Justice (ej) Leadership Forum in its efforts to have EJ considerations included in the EPA's Clean Power Plan, and celebrated the opening of a green bus depot in Northern Manhattan.
This presentation is part of the Conservation Leadership Speaker Series sponsored by the Riordan Family Program in Natural Resource Environmental Leadership in the Department of Human Dimension of Natural Resources.  Sponsors for this particular talk include Environmental Justice CSU and the Grimwood Heritage Fund.
