HARLEM, NY — As Asians and Asian Americans continue to be intimidated, threatened, and attacked by racists in this country, WE ACT for Environmental Justice’s Co-Founder and Executive Director Peggy Shepard and WE ACT staff have issued the following statement:
“As a Black-led organization dedicated to addressing environmental racism at the city, state, and federal levels, we are inherently invested in the fight for racial justice for all communities. While WE ACT’s focus has historically not been with Asian communities, we recognize how terrible and insidious violence against this community and the diaspora is, and condemn all forms of racial violence. Too many of our communities suffer from violence of hate. It is crucial that all communities can exist in a safe, sustainable, and healthy environment, free from the terror of white supremacy.”
