To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, WE ACT for Environmental Justice is hosting an Earth Day 5K Fun Run. Originally scheduled for April 18th in Riverside Park, we have transitioned this fundraiser for walkers and runners into a “virtual race” which you can do in a safe location at your convenience between April 18-26.
Social distancing will likely remain the norm for at least the next month, and we want to do our part to keep everyone healthy and safe. During the week of Earth Day (April 18-26), all registered participants will be able to run or walk the Earth Day 5K at a time and place of their choosing. As opposed to a traditional group racing event, a virtual race will provide the flexibility to practice social distancing while still allowing the opportunity to celebrate Earth Day and support WE ACT.
We encourage you to continue to be fundraising champions, spread the word, and stay safe. Support for organizations like ours is needed now more than ever. And participating in this virtual race, and fundraising for it, will help us stay in the race.
If the “virtual race” concept is new to you, or you’d like further explanation, please visit our race website to check out our new virtual run FAQ. Visit our Earth Day 5K microsite for details. And if you can’t join us, please consider making a donation to support our work!
