January Membership Meeting: Our NYCHA Voter Engagement Plan
We are poised to make the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and the challenges that NYCHA residents face a top priority for New York City. And we invite you to attend our Membership Meeting at 10 AM on Saturday, January 9 to learn how.
In the 2021 New York City elections, the mayor, comptroller, four out of five borough presidents, and two-thirds of the city council will all be ineligible for reelection due to term limits. This unprecedented change in leadership presents an invaluable opportunity for a change in priorities.
For several months, WE ACT has been working with NYCHA residents in Northern Manhattan on a slate of recommendations that will make the health, safety, and sustainability of NYCHA residents a top priority for the City. And in 2021, we will register thousands of NYCHA residents to vote – and ensure that they turn out at the polls for the City’s June primary and November general election.
Join us on January 9 to learn about the NYCHA resident-driven platform we’re going to introduce as well as our voter engagement plan to ensure that the new class of incoming city officials will embrace this platform and provide NYCHA residents with the funding, repairs, and improvements they deserve.
In addition, we’ll be discussing Community Power, our community solar project in East Harlem. And we will also be electing WE ACT’s new Membership Planning Committee. If you would like to apply to be on the Planning Committee and help lead our membership activities, please complete this form in advance of our January 9 meeting.
