The Pandemic & Pollution: A Panel Discussion on COVID-19 & Asthma

Join us for the Pandemic & Pollution: A Virtual Conversation on COVID-19 & Asthma

African American, Latinx, and low-income communities have a disproportionate burden of illness and death from COVID-19, according to evidence from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our communities also experience higher rates of asthma that can be exacerbated by the air pollution, mold, dust, and asthmatic triggers such as pollen and weather fluctuations that exist in our homes, schools, and neighborhoods.

On the heels of National Asthma Awareness Month, join us a for a conversation that examines the intersection of air quality, asthma, and COVID-19. Panelists will include U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13); U.S. Representative Eliot Engel (NY-16); Dr. Alexea Gaffney-Adams of Stony Brook Medical Associates; and Mychal Johnson, Co-Founder of South Bronx Unite. We’ll also explore policy solutions that can bring clean air and environmental justice to our communities.

This event will be held online via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent to registered participants before the event, so be sure to RSVP.
