New York State Climate Justice Advocacy Day
Do you want to do something about climate change? Do you want climate justice for all New Yorkers? Then join us on Tuesday, March 8 for the New York Renews in-person Albany Advocacy Day! Sign up here.
We’ll be meeting with elected officials to ask them to invest the $15 billion needed to fully fund the Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) so that we can effectively address the climate justice issues impacting our communities across the state. We’re talking about reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution, improving energy efficiency and security, building renewable energy like solar and wind, and ensuring that we get our fair share of the jobs this will create.
The New York State budget is due April 1, and so far they have failed to fund the CLCPA. Passing the best climate justice legislation of any state in the nation may get headlines, but unless you set aside the funds to fully enact it, climate change is only going to get worse – especially for our communities, which already bear the brunt of it.
If you are interested in joining us, RSVP here or reach out to Annie Carforo at annie@weact.org with any questions you might have. We’ll be taking a bus up to Albany, departing at 7:00 AM to arrive in Albany by 10:00 AM. We’ll take the same bus back to the city, departing at 2:00 PM that same day, March 8, and arriving home around 5:00 PM (depending on traffic). Join us and make a difference!
