Peggy Shepard & David Evans Discuss Addressing Environmental Health Risks in Northern Manhattan

There is increasing recognition that toxic chemicals in the environment, as well as poverty, racism, and inequitable access to medical care, contribute to both pediatric and adult disease. Since 1998, WE ACT has been working in partnership with the Columbia Center for Children’s Environmental Health to conduct research in Central and West Harlem, Washington Heights, and the South Bronx to assess the impact of prenatal exposure to suspected environmental health hazards on growth and development throughout childhood.

Join WE ACT’s Co-Founder & Executive Director Peggy Shepard and Columbia University’s Emeritus Professor of Sociomedical Sciences David Evans on Thursday, Oct. 17th for a conversation about our 21-year collaboration and the impact it has had on the community. The conversation – which will begin at 6:30 PM at Columbia’s The Alcove @ The Forum, 601-5 West 125th Street (at Broadway) – will be moderated by The Forum’s Executive Director Mary McGee. RSVP here
