Join us on Wednesday, June 8 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM for our webinar with Clean and Healthy New York, JustGreen Partnership, & South Bronx Unite to celebrate the passage of New York State’s Cumulative Impacts bill to protect environmental justice communities from being dumping grounds for pollution. This legislation (S.8830/A.2103C) will ensure that the cumulative impacts from all sources of pollution affecting a community are taken into consideration in the State’s Environmental Quality Review process when potentially polluting facilities seek permits in disadvantaged communities. Communities of color bear a disproportionate burden of air pollution and have become dumping grounds for pollution thanks to racist policies such as redlining. Panelists will include: Peggy Shepard, Executive Director and Co-Founder of WE ACT for Environmental Justice; Mychal Johnson, Co-Founder of South Bronx Unite; Dr. Robert Bullard, Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy and Director of the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice; and Dr. Nicky Sheats, Director of the Center for the Urban Environment at the John S. Watson Institute for Urban Policy and Research at Kean University and founding member of the New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance (NJEJA). RSVP here.
