Utility Debt Relief: Come Apply for a Discount
Are you struggling to pay your utility bills? You are not alone, and WE ACT can help! Join us on Wednesday, July 19th from 6:00-8:00 PM for a workshop that can enroll you in New York State’s utility debt relief program, which can provide you up to $4,750 to apply automatically toward any electric or gas bill debt you may owe (up to May 1, 2022).
This will be an in-person, hands-on workshop at WE ACT’s office: 1854 Amsterdam Avenue, Second Floor (at the corner of 152nd Street). In addition to free help and guidance to enroll in this program, including free printing and postage for your application, we will also provide activities for children and snacks for everyone.
If you already received utility debt assistance in 2022, you unfortunately will not qualify again. Otherwise, please bring the following to enable us to help you apply for this program:
– Your utility bill (in order to apply, you must be the name on the utility account)
– Your Medicaid card if you have one
– Some form of ID
– A copy of your benefits award letter
What benefit programs qualify you for utility bill discounts? If you receive any of the following assistance from programs below, we can help! If you’re not, we can help you see if you qualify. Contact Briana Carbajal at briana.carbajal@weact.org if you have questions.
