Utility Debt Relief Workshop

Are you struggling with utility debt? Energy bills have been skyrocketing and since the beginning of the pandemic, almost two million New Yorkers have fallen behind on their utility bills. That is why we have teamed up with the Public Utility Law Project for an in-person workshop at our Harlem office (1854 Amsterdam Avenue, at 152nd Street) at 6:00 PM on Thursday, November 3 to help you apply for utility debt relief. If you are a participant in an existing benefits award program (see below for the list of eligible programs) here in New York State, we will help you enroll in a state program that can eliminate utility debt owed through May 1, 2022. We will offer free filing assistance, free postage to send in your application, and free printing available as well as activities for kids.

Bring your utility bill (in order to apply, you must be the name on the utility account), a copy of your benefits award letter, Medicaid card (if you have one), and some form of identification. RSVP here to reserve your spot!
