Giving Tuesday 2018: Language Justice
Language justice means giving everyone in our community an equal voice, and the right to be heard and understood regardless of what language they speak. This is critical for the work we do at WE ACT because, in some of the neighborhoods we serve, up to 70 percent of the people speak Spanish as their native language. And that is why we chose to focus on language justice for Giving Tuesday in 2018, to raise funds for interpretation and translation services as well as bilingual outreach and organizing to better support Northern Manhattan’s diverse population.
While Giving Tuesday has come and gone, you certainly still can give. Your support will enable us to overcome language barriers and empower the entire community as we fight for a healthier environment for all. Give today to make sure everyone’s voice is heard!
