Workforce Development Working Group

Today’s high poverty and unemployment rate in Northern Manhattan is caused by decades of poor and often racist public policy around jobs, housing, homeownership, education, policing, and more. And climate change is exacerbating the issue, widening existing social and economic inequalities in our community and others like it. That is why we created WE ACT’s Green Institute Workforce Development Program, which provides a pathway to good paying jobs in the green economy. Our Workforce Development Working Group focuses on helping community members develop the skills they need to access, secure, and maintain these jobs. This working group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM. If you would like to learn more about or join the working group, email Charles Callaway at
