Symposium for CBOs: Community Benefits & Community Needs Assessments

On May 16, 2018, WE ACT held a symposium to bring together hospital representatives, expert researchers, policymakers, community-based organizations and local residents to better understand current policy structures and mandates guiding the Hospital Community Benefit Program required by the IRS and reinforced under the Patient Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA). Participants learned how local hospitals are investing in community benefits as well the processes they use to conduct community health needs assessments. We also had lively breakout sessions in which participants collaborated and developed recommendations to enhance future community benefit investments and community engagement for future needs assessments.
