Sustainable and Equitable Land Use

We believe urban planning for the community, by the community is the best way to achieve equity.

Planning for sustainable and equitable land use involves decisions made at many levels of government which can impact gentrification, affordable housing, access to transportation, green space, and overall quality of life. Historically, land use planning and zoning policies have not always supported community health, wellness, and equitable development, especially for low-income, neighborhoods of color.

New York City’s notorious levels of inequality and rapid rates of development mean that intentional planning practices to ensure that community voices are heard are necessary if we want to create a more equitable and resilient city.
